ACPNJ Advocacy Committee meets with NJ Sen. Vitale

The ACPNJ Advocacy Committee met with State Senator Joseph Vitale on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in his Woodbridge, NJ office.

ACPNJ Attendees included Dr Jonathan Shammash, NJ Northern Governor, Dr Louis Friedman, Chapter Treasurer, Dr Elizabeth Cerceo, Council Member and Chapter Wellness Champion, Dr Daniel Ricketti, Resident Committee Co-Chair, and Ms Claudine Leone, Government Affairs Counsel.

Committee members addressed the following concerns with Senator Vitale:

  • Improving access to J-1 waiver positions in NJ for our residency graduates;
  • Modifications to the Loan Redemption Program in order to mitigate debt for NJ medical students;
  • Strategies to enhance environmental sustainability in NJ healthcare institutions, with the possibility of developing a task force at the state level.

Our chapter welcomes member comments and suggestions regarding advocacy at both the state and national levels.
